2nd blind DatE
We only danced together once and decided on a second date.
Every time we meet with somebody, a friend, a stranger, the bartender, we meet in that particular moment for the first and only time. Every encounter is different, we are different, the moment in time and place has changed.
Here, today, two individuals meet for the first time unfolding in front of the audience, shaping moment by moment through shared weight, sensory awareness and the act of physical listening. By using contact improvisation, partnering, and acrobatics, the two performers Maayan Reiter und Swantje Kawecki are negotiating their relationship with each other and navigating their dance through vulnerability and support. Boundaries blur, roles shift, and presence becomes a practice of attunement.
Gradually, the space opens. The line between performer and participant softens. What began as a duet becomes an invitation, for those present to enter, to sense rather than analyse, to meet rather than observe. Drawing from Contact Improvisation and somatic research, 2nd blind proposes an alternative to a disembodied, overstimulated culture.
It offers a radical tenderness: to listen through the skin, to be moved without needing to speak, to find connection in uncertainty.
This site-specific performance explores what it means to meet, trust, and respond to another and invites the audiences to reconnect through the physical presence of our bodies in shared space.
